Department of Aquaculture

The Department of Aquaculture was established in the year 2023 and the Department offers a two-year M.Sc. program in aquaculture with 40 seats as intake. Prof. B. Hari Babu, the AP State Best Teacher awardee (from ANU in 2019) and Registrar of the Andhra Kesari University, Ongole has been heading the Department since its establishment with the support of two guest faculty. Prof Hari Babu, committed his thoughts to make this department one of the best department in the campus and also trying to explore the department in all over India to attract more number of students. The Department of Aquaculture and Lotus Sea Farms Pvt. Ltd. SPSR Nellore signed a memorandum of understanding in 2024 to exchange mutual academic and research benefits. The department is making continuous efforts for the students to work at Aqua farms, hatcheries, Aqua feed mills and research laboratories in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the way of field works, internships, and projects. After completion of their M.Sc. the students can absorb at various hatcheries, aqua farms, feed mills, and research laboratories available in all parts of India. In March 2024, the Aquaculture department organized its first one-day national seminar entitled “TRENDS IN AQUACULTURE AND ROLE OF CHEMICALS IN AQUACULTURE MANAGEMENT” (TARCA-2024) in a successful manner.

The faculty of the Department of aquaculture has published 16 (Sixteen) publications in reputed journals and articles. One of the faculty Dr. A. Aswartha Narayana of the Department has obtained his M.Sc. Zoology from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, AP-India in 2017 and received Ph.D. from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, AP-India in 2024. He was qualified AP-SET in the year 2020. He has published, 7 (Seven) research papers in different reputed national and international scientific journals. He is also a Life Member of the Indian Science, Congress Association (ISCA). He had two years of teaching and four years of research experience. The other faculty member, Dr. Suresh Bhairu received his Ph.D. degree from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India after completion of his masters degree from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, A.P-India. He also received his M.Phil. degrees in Zoology from PRIST University, Thanjavur, Tamilnadu, India, and in English from Achayra Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. He was qualified AP-SET in the year 2021 and AP-TET in the year 2012. He published his research work in 9 (nine) reputed national and International scientific journals. He had 12 years of teaching and 06 years of research experience.
